5 Tips to Finding Your Passion

passionate living

“Passion is the genesis of genius.”  – Anthony Robbins

Living an ideal lifestyle starts with finding what you’re passionate about. In order to be successful, content and to live a well balanced life requires your vocation to be in tune with something you’re excited about. Your job needs to make you feel a live , otherwise your wasting your time. Life is too short to not do something you enjoy everyday.

In its simplest form, your true purpose in life is something that you are passionate about. That’s how you know its your purpose, because it makes you excited. When you filter what you do through a blissful and passionate state you will become the best at it. You are most fit at doing that task and the best chance for that task to truly help the world is through you. Whether you enjoy singing, writing, cycling or even fishing, if this is what makes you want to jump out of bed every morning and you can do it day after day without it losing it’s excitement then this is your ultimate purpose. This is the only path to truly changing the world – if that is your intention. When youdo things through passion then you become very good very fast and ultimately you’ll reach a point of genius.

“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.” – Steve Jobs

I believe that a peaceful world is a world is doing what they love. When you overcome the grasp of the ego and do things through your heart, this is the only way to do good work. When work is done through ego; wanting to be the best, wanting fame, wanting recognition, wanting lots of money , then you lose the edge of passion. You’re doing things for the wrong purpose. You’re not using your full focus and enthusiam which differentiates good work and great work. To reach mastery at any skill you require persistence and enthusiasm, and unless you’re doing what you love you will struggle through the obstacles and most likely quit. But when you do something just for the pure love of it – then you know that this is your purpose – this is your entry into changing the world.

“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.” – Joel A. Barker

Finding your passion is  a realization through discovery and action. Look at it more like a path, not a destination. Your passion could evolve and change .You can feel it through your heart that something is what your meant to do. Feel with your heart when doing something and let your intuition guide you. The mind can get caught up in beliefs and definitions that something has to be done a certain way, that something can’t be your passion because it won’t make you any money, it is not a realistic goal, i’ll get too much criticism etc. When you follow your heart these things don’t matter because you’re doing it because it makes you feel good.

5 Tips to Finding Your Passion

Listen to Your Intuition

Your intuition and gut feeling is your guiding compass. Do things on the gut feeling because somehow they already know what you want to do. Your mind can get caught up on all kinds of limiting beliefs and opposing ideas – but your intuition can’t.

Examine Your Past

What did you love to do when you were younger? What were your natural abilities that you didn’t think much of? People tend to generalize at a young age that because their good at something, or when you enjoy doing something that everyone must love to do it. You think its common. In most cases it’s not and finding these can lead you to find your true passion. For example, if you were very creative as a child then your passion very possibly is something to do with expressing this creativity whether its art, music or business.

What Comes Easy for You

What are your natural talents? Try to think of all the things that you’re naturally good at  whether its learning another language, maths or sports. What have you always been good at and what are the things that you could pick up easily? I have a friend who enjoys music in general, and picking up the guitar and playing mind blowing tunes didn’t take him long to master. Think of all the things that you can do with ease that others find difficult.

What Would You Do If Money Was No Object

Jamie Johnson, heir to the Johnson & Johnson empire was told by his father that he wouldn’t have to work a single day of his life, but he wouldn’t get any money unless he did something with his life. He had to choose an occupation and it could have been anything – concert violinist, gardener or astronaut, and he chose to become a director. He loves making documentaries and since he doesn’t need to earn any money, he does it through passion. This is the mindset you need to have when you try to find your passion. If you knew everything would work out perfectly and that you were already financially abundant what you do with your life? What would you do if money was no object? Find what this is and do it.

Take Action

A crucial part of finding your passion is to take action in whatever you think your passionate about. This is the only way for you to know that you love doing it. If you’re passionate about painting, take action in doing and improving your skills and mastering the skill. Like wise if you enjoy writing start a blog or begin writing a book and explore the all facets of your passion. You always want to be moving forward and push yourself to grow and learn. Face your fears and  understand that they are just excitement in disguise.

Finding your passion is to explore and learn about new possibilities. Things are always becoming invented, and there’s a possibility that what you’re passionate about doesn’t have a medium to yet express itself. Imagine all the people following their passion through the internet which wasn’t available 30 years ago. A good way to learn is through reading. The following list are some  highly recommend books. Reading even just one of these books can alter the way you think about life.
